WORLD VISION IGNITE
PARTNERSHIP
Through our Ignite! partnership with World Vision, our students and staff have the opportunity to reach the ends of the earth. Every year, students and staff new to the program are Chosen by a child in Guatemala to be their sponsor. Once chosen, each faculty and staff member begin to develop a relationship with their sponsor child that will last all the way to graduation. Through this relationship, our students learn about other cultures, the challenges faced in the village our sponsor kids are from, and how we can help in a way that is sustainable. As students learn about these challenges in Guatemala, they begin to recognize that many of the same issues exist in our local communities. As each class discovers needs in the community, they are challenged to develop a sustainable way to meet those needs.
In Acts 1:8, the disciples are told “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Our service learning program allows our students to reach their Jerusalem (local community) and their Judea and Samaria (the greater region they live in), but it doesn’t give us a lot of opportunity to make a global difference.
