To EQUIP you as parents…
A bit of emotional support: Ever feel like you need help handling your child's BIG emotions? Every single one of us - kids, teens and adults - experience emotions, but many of us are not great at naming and/or interpreting them. Using an "emotional wheel" can be an incredibly helpful tool in this process. Check out this site with a variety of free resources and see if it helps you and/or your child the next time he/she is struggling emotionally.
A bit of a survey: It's easy to feel like there are way too many resources out there. Rather than feeling grateful for what is available, do you ever feel overwhelmed and almost unable to take in anything else? When it comes to equipping you as a parent, we want the resources we're offering to be as relevant and useful as possible. Which of the following topics/tools/ideas are of most interest to YOU?
a parenting mentorship program
book recommendations
Bible study materials
podcasts about parenting
video teachings by trusted parenting experts
real-life stories from other parents
how to pray for your kids
a retreat for parents
prayer partners
help navigating technology
financial advice

To ENRICH you in your walk with Christ...
A bit of humility: Annie F. Downs had a conversation recently with Richard Foster (author of Celebration of Discipline) along with his friend and fellow pastor Brenda Quinn, and it is incredibly inspiring. If you want to listen to some wise thoughts about this virtue that seems to be rare these days, you won't want to miss this interview.
A bit of help: Don't we all just need a little help? Or maybe sometimes a lot of help? Max Lucado reminds us of the incredible gift of the Holy Spirit, the Helper God has given us as we live day by day, in this podcast episode put on by Moms in Prayer.
... Speaking of prayer, did you know there are groups of ACSD moms or dads who are praying together this year? Did you know you are welcome to join, if you're a mom or a dad? There is something uniquely powerful about uniting with fellow parents to pray for and with one another and our children. To learn more, email Carrie Warner (Moms in Prayer) or Anthony Buttacy (Fathers' Prayer Group).
To help you ENGAGE with your kids...
A bit of free Halloween fun: One of our ACSD families recently shared with us about an upcoming free event hosted by the Tri-County Area Federal Credit Union. If you're looking for something fun to do this weekend on Saturday afternoon, feel free to check it out! According to the website, "kids are encouraged to wear their best costume as they walk their way through an awesome line-up of themed trunks - collecting candy and treats at each stop to fill their Halloween Treat Bags, which will be provided."
Pieces of inspiration for fall crafting: Who loves crafts? Or who has kids who love doing crafts? In case you need some fresh ideas for how to make use of leaves, pumpkins and more, check out this roundup of "40 Easy Fall Crafts for Kids to Make on a Cool, Crisp Autumn Day"!
